Abstract: Episiotomy care means cleaning of the perineal stitches to minimize the occurrence of the infection after delivery. A Quantitative study was conducted to assess the knowledge on episiotomy care among primipara mothers admitted at Government Head Quarters Hospital, Erode, Tamil Nadu.

The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge on Episiotomy care among Primipara mothers and to determine the association between knowledge score with the selected demographic variables with the view to develop health education pamphlet regarding Episiotomy care. Non experimental descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The sample comprised of 60 primipara mothers were selected by convenient sampling technique from Government Head Quarters Hospital, Erode, Tamil Nadu. The research result showed that 93.33% (56) of the Primipara mothers had inadequate knowledge and 6.67% (4) of the Primipara mothers had moderate knowledge. So, the Primipara mothers need more education and training on care of episiotomy wound. This can be achieved by proper health education to Primipara mothers with the help of the health care personnel.
