Diabetic wounds remain a significant healthcare challenge due to impaired healing, high infection risks, and prolonged inflammation. Hydrogels have gained attention as advanced wound dressings due to their moisture-retentive properties, biocompatibility, and capacity for controlled bioactive agent release. This study investigates the incorporation of Euphorbia hirta extract into a hydrogel matrix for diabetic wound healing. The Euphorbia hirta extract was first assessed for its antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities to confirm its therapeutic potential. The hydrogel was then synthesized and evaluated for its antimicrobial efficacy, pH, moisture content and swelling ratio. Results demonstrated that Euphorbia hirta extract exhibited strong antimicrobial effect against common wound pathogens, significant Antioxidant capacity, and potential anti-inflammatory activity. The formulated hydrogel showed excellent antimicrobial action against tested pathogens, suggesting its suitability as a bioactive wound dressing. These findings highlight the potential of Euphorbia hirta infused hydrogel as a natural and effective approach for diabetic wound management, warranting further in vivo investigations for clinical application.
